A Message from the Executive Director
As we reflect on the past year, we are very proud of our many accomplishments. Our dedicated and passionate
staff and volunteers work hard to ensure that we are always providing opportunities for children to develop to their full potential.
We recognize
the importance
of literacy, recreation, the arts and all of these and much more are reflected in the work that we do in the community for children and
their families. Some of the examples of new initiatives in the past year include a children’s art show at Museum London called Art
with a Heart, over 30 thematic Family Literacy events in schools, our Creative Cities conference, Book Camp London and to finish off the
year an art mural at the London Food Bank completed by children in our Community Service Clubs.
On behalf of everyone at Investing in Children we would like to wish you and your family happy holidays! We would also like to take the
opportunity to thank all of our volunteers, community partners, funders and friends of Investing in Children for their continued support.

Executive Director

Family Literacy Evenings a Success!
In
partnership with the Thames Valley District School Board and other Community Partners, Investing in Children has been organizing a new
series of Family Literacy Evenings. Under the new program, participating schools each host four evening events. Each evening features
a different theme, with special guests and activities to encourage families to read together and to understand the many ways that literacy
skills can be practiced. The first set of themes are: Dinosaurs, Bugs, Rainforests and Under the Sea.
Recently, the TVDSB asked Investing in Children to create four additional units, which will be presented at
schools in 2006. The new themes are Castles, Olympics, Good Eats and Space.
Our partners in these events are: Thames Valley District School Board
Scholar's Choice,
SuperPet,
Let's Talk Science and the
Museum of Archaeology.
Join us to celebrate the season
Looking for a special and delicious way to celebrate the holiday season? Maggie's Restaurant
is hosting a Silent Charity Auction and Dinner. A portion of the evening's proceeds will support Investing in Children, so we invite you
to join us. |
