Building
a Comprehensive Early
Childhood Development System
At the
end of May, the Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Development
and the Society for Prevention Research hosted a conference in
Quebec City looking at Building a Comprehensive Early Childhood
Development System.
A variety of releveant
issues for the Early Years was presented through presentations
and round table discussions with speakers representing all sectors
of the community and hailing from throughout North America. The
broad base of speakers brought success stories and best practices
from across the country, as well as the United States, Australia
and the United Kingdom.
The conference focused
on the multitude of challenges and opportunities that exist in
the field of early childhood development, and sought to work towards
common solutions that can be deployed throughout the country.
Amongst the many highlights,
Fraser Mustard spoke on “Experienced-based Brain Development,”
and Charles Coffey, Executive Vice President of Government and
Community Affairs for RBC Financial Group addressed economic benefits
and ramifications in “The Economics of Early Childhood Development
and Care: The Cost of Not Doing Enough”
